Day 7

I am developing an interesting relationship with the neighbor’s cat as I read my book on our blue back porch. He is a long whiskered portly fellow who likes to jump and I am enjoying the company of another creature perhaps as bored as I am. Not much has happened in my first week back. It’s easier to count the weeks rather than the days. It gives the summer more movement. I am enjoying home-cooked meals again.

I haven’t touched the piano yet, but I found some music I will practice this week. It has been raining recently, but that doesn’t concern me too much. Wet feelers from our tree are everywhere.

I began a few letters to Emmy but scrapped them, being too sentimental in way I doubt she’d appreciate. Substance escaped me. I have listened to all the music They Might Be Giants have released a few times.

Tomorrow I’ll foray into Manhattan in search of a nice copy of The Count of Monte Cristo, a story that’s been on my mind for some time and I’d like to read in the original style.

Hopefully this week will be better than the last. I have been worrying in my style but my focus has shifted slightly. I am going to start Wallace Berry’s Form in Music again. Summer is certainly in full force now.

Emmy is going to visit soon if all goes as planned. That will be good, to say the least. My thoughts are elsewhere and I can’t help but feel like I’m in two places at once.
